A Faithful gospel presence

rooted in the city of vancouver

Vancouver Washington has seen a lot of growth in the last 10 years, and our downtown has been at the epicenter of that growth.  It seems like every week we see a new business or residence popping up.  Downtown Vancouver is uniquely placed near the heart of a major metropolitan area,

and continues to be a place where many families and individuals desire to make their home.

We love this city, and all that it is becoming.  Most of all, we want this place to have a faithful gospel presence in the heart of the city, a community of people living lives of love and service in their neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and homes.

Because of the rapid growth that downtown Vancouver is experiencing, it is becoming increasingly difficult   for churches to find gathering space, let alone permanent space where they can put down roots.

This is why this opportunity is unique and strategic.

It's a time to root Union Chapel in the heart of our city

for future generations.

Will you help us root this work in the city?

SO WHY NOW?

The opportunity has arisen for us to purchase the building even though we are only 4 years into the lease.  "Union Chapel" is only a few months old, but our collective community is actually made up of two well established and generous churches.  We believe this will be an opportunity for this newly merged congregation to

come together around some common goals:

  • Rooting Union Chapel in the heart of our city, for now and for future generations,
  • Significantly reducing our monthly payment, wisely stewarding our current finances.

806 Main Street

Our building can be found in the heart of Vancouver's downtown.

We want this to be a place where we can continue to worship, build relationships, serve our community, and be actively engaged in the culture of our city.  The building has a sanctuary that can seat 300, 6 children's classrooms, office space, a beautiful event space on the top floor, and an unfinished basement.

HOW IS THE BUILDING USED?

Beside being a place for our worship gathering on Sunday, this building serves as a hub for a variety of ministry and local community uses.

- Hosting local non-profit fundraisers and training events

- Participating in the local arts community through First Friday events

- City-wide worship nights

- Westside Pastor's Prayer Gatherings

- Mom's Community

The building itself is an incredible asset to be stewarded for the furthering of the

gospel and the good of our city.

What are we hoping to accomplish?

Currently, Union Chapel leases the building at 806 Main Street.

We hope to raise enough to cover the purchasing costs,

as well as secure that investment with funds to maintain and care for the building.

This will give us a permanent home in the heart of the city where we can worship wholeheartedly,

and serve our community.

The Goal:  $100,000

Because of the initial work and investment of Calvary Downtown, our down payment for the building is expected to be low.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 above and beyond our regular giving.

  • $60,000 will go towards covering purchasing costs (e.g., appraisal, downpayment, closing costs)
  • $40,000  will secure that investment by providing funds to maintain and care for the building.

Our Goal is to raise the full $100,000 by December 31st.

Funds Raised so far:  $71,575

More questions?

Fundraising for a building can be very complicated.  We've tried to keep this page as clear and concise as possible,

but we understand if you have more questions.  If you have something specific you'd like to discuss before making any decisions, we encourage you to reach out to our Lead Pastor, Jake Hendrix.  He'd be happy to help answer any questions you may have.
